The following tests require version 1.421.50 or newer. On versions prior to 1.423.3, you must have the [[Index pulses]] enabled.

To test for mechanical drift issues that interfere with machine positioning:

If the [[Index pulses]] are turned on in the software, this process is done automatically every time the system homes in 1.422.1 and higher. So homing the machine, running a file and then re-homing the machine will provide a warning if the machine is suffering from this issue.

Alternately, to force a manual test:

* Prior to running a file, in the main interface, type on the keyboard:

'H' for home

'D' for Drift test

'?' where ? is the axis you suspect of drift (Y,X,Z,A). You should repeat this process for all axes.

* Run a file that will result in the problem. If you choose to [[Test running files|run in the air]], note that this results in reduced forces on the machine, possibly reducing the probability that the problem will occur.

* After the file has run, repeat the original procedure, where in the main interface, type on the keyboard:

'H' for home

'D' for Drift test

* You will, after each axis, be presented with a message that states whether or not the system checks out properly.
