New page

Scenario
One or more axes travel at a high rate of speed, uncontrollably under any of the following circumstances:

* When the user tries to jog the machine
* When a file runs
* When the cnc interface is started

Problem
There is likely no feedback from the motor, or the feedback is backwards.

Solution
* Immediately press the emergency stop on the machine.
* Ensure feedback in setup for all axes, starting with the one(s) that "ran away"

If there is no feedback on only one axis:

* Inspect the rectangular cable that plugs into the motor and control board.
* If this machine is NOT an LC/LP controller, inspect the scsi cable
* Swap the motor cables with another motor at the control board
* Swap the motor with another similar motor
* Contact Support with these results.

If there is no feedback on any axes:

* If this machine is NOT an LC/LP controller, inspect the scsi cable
* Contact Support with these results.

If there is feedback on all of the axes, including the one that "ran away"

* This is an unusual circumstance that can only arise from a replaced encoder or amplifier that was not wired properly. Verify this is the case and Contact Support with this information.
