The following tests require version 1.421.50 or newer. On versions prior to 1.423.3, you must have the Index pulses enabled.

To test for electrical issues that interfere with machine positioning:

  • Prior to running a file, in the main interface, type on the keyboard:

'H' for home

'T' for test

'?' where ? is the axis you suspect of drift (Y,X,Z,A). You should repeat this process for all axes.

Note: If the Index pulses are turned on in the software, this process is done automatically every time the system homes in 1.422.1 and higher.

  • Run a file that will result in the problem. You can likely run in the air, but note that on occasion, the spindle power is the source of the issue, so running with the spindle off may result in the problem not happening.
  • After the file has run, repeat the original procedure, where in the main interface, type on the keyboard:

'H' for home

'T' for test

'?' where ? is the axis you suspect of drift (Y,X,Z,A). You should repeat this process for all axes.

  • You will, after each axis, be presented with a message that states whether or not the system checks out properly.

If you get a message that Pulses were gained or lost, this is NOT a problem with the mechanics, and can only occur by way of an electrical problem or a problem with a dusty encoder.
